AN OPEN LETTER OF APPRECIATION TO THE ASSIN SOUTH MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT ( HON. REV. JOHN NTIM FORDJOUR)

I humbly write to you this letter to express my opinion on your performance as our representative in parliament, to assess you of your actions and reflect on the current state of our constituency.

I am a Ghanaian, a resident of Assin Kyekyewere in the Assin South district, and I have interest in the affairs of our dear constituency. I am writing this letter based on the powers that enshrined in our constitution to give every citizen the freedom of speech and expression.

Also, the principle of participatory democracy necessitates that citizens hold their political leaders accountable in relation to their performance. This is basically the reason why I am writing this open letter, outlining my reason for quietude, which majority of the electorates in the constituency are also pleased with.

I appreciate your reserved nature as well as the massive development you brought to Assin South together with the DCE and this unprecedented if my electorates care to know .

There is a saying that “to him much is given much is expected from him” and so you have really fulfill your promises. I am much relieved by your performance as Member of Parliament which I found a heart touching because you have shown real interest in addressing your constituent and their needs.

If I am to rate you, I would rate you over 85% score mark which automatically earns you B+ and you deserve the chance to go unopposed as already stipulated .

I am aware that the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo is delivering on his promises such as the Free SHS, Planting for Food And Jobs, One District-One Factory, NABCO, exiting from the IMF, passing of the RTI Bill into RTI Act and a lot to be mentioned and  as an MP you have done tremendously well, making the good intentions of our President known in the Constituency.

Your colleague MP’s are also  taking the advantage of these social intervention programs to help develop their constituencies but yours is outstanding. They trusted and knew you can do the job and as such voted in their numbers for you. It is not surprising that for about  3 years and some months now, they’ve  seen you doing much to champion the course you promised them.

Hon. John Ntim Fordjour, it will interest you to know that, many of the people in Assin South constituency are not interested in political gimmicks but rather the struggle to get rid of poverty, bad roads, poor educational facilities, lack of development of human resource, limited health care centers, the lack of developmental policies and generally bad standard of living is the constituency topmost priority and so you have delivered, we say thank you.

Programs designed by the President to help improve livelihoods of the good people of Ghana has been the priority of you in the  constituency. Your lobbying skills is one of no kind. Assin South is one of the faithful constituencies NPP had always relied on during elections and you have stand to continue the steps of the predecessors and I think you deserve better Mr. MP. Your inclined nature to respond to genuine concerns raised by your people is what has egg me on to write to you this letter openly.

Furthermore, I am particularly concerned about the deep involvement of the people from the constituency in the formulation of the district development plan.

These developmental plans have not been only the duty of the district assembly but rather you assisted to democratized to reflect a bottom-up policy approach where residents in the various towns of the constituency contributed their quota to the process and made the challenges and the aspirations of the people of Assin South  represented in those plans.

I don’t think the district assembly  drawn a policy in our four year development plan without notifying you, like how would the constituents even get the chance of enjoying the electronic stand pipe ( World bank project), toilet facilities, rehabilitation projects, clinics, telecommunication mask, classrooms block's etc.. All these were achieved through proper consultation with DCE and hand in hand undertakings.

I have much to tell you about the good state of affairs of the constituency. You are visible in the constituency or vocal in the House of Parliament. Your Parliamentary participation makes we the constituents feels proud in any realm of political debates with our colleagues from different district and your quick  forwarding of problems of the constituency to the House of Parliament is profound one.

We plead you do much much better and great job as you have demonstrated for the past 3years and some months in prioritizing our needs. We are all aware that the problems of our constituency will need the whole earth space to write it down but your tenure of office has smoothen the rough path. This should tell you that you have done much as you promised and there is an adage in an Akan that "One who climb a good tree needs a push" and we will do rightly everything possible to make you run again.

Thank you.

Yours Sincerely,

Raymond Ntiedu
